This event was a success as fa as I'm concerned. A few girls came along to write stories of their own, and while two were too young write properly, they did their best and were winners in my eyes. I'm not going to name her, but a seven year old, whose been living in France had exceptional handwriting, They are taught cursive from a very young age, and I think it is something we should be doing here in Britain. It can only bring out the creative mind in children further.
For those too young to write there was an opportunity to do some colouring in of a mermaid drawing. Check out the page on facebook for some of the entries. The Fokkestone Mermaid Fringe

Children's WorkshopHosted by me, this event is sure to be a hit with the young ones. It's being held at the Waterstones in Folkestone, between 14:30 and 16:00 on SATURDAY 8th AUGUST.
Do come along with your kids, they will have the opportunity to write their very own mermaid story. Keep up to date on the weekend at Folkestone Mermaid Fringe 2015 Come meet me, The Piggin' Author, at Folkestone this August.
I'll be reading from THE WHITE QUEEN and will sign any copies you bring along. If you don't own a copy yet, do not despair I'll have copies to hand of both THE WHITE QUEEN and THE MUR OF AQUITHUS for you to buy and of course I'll sign them. The event is scheduled for 8th August, but there is also a fringe festival taking place all weekend and this is where I'll be doing a children's workshop at the local Waterstones. So bring your little ones along and let them take the opportunity to write their own tales from the deep. (It will be mermaid related, but if they want to write about pirates, that'll be fine too. (Just no Sponge Bob square bollox. Oh come on, you've thought it too, right.) Folkestone Mermaid Festival 2015 Folkestone mermaid Fringe 2015 Whilst attending the 3 Wishes Faery Festival over the weekend, I got a chance to meet some real life mermaids. They were, Lily-Rose, and Aura, of The English Mermaids. I think what they do brings magic to all, but especially, young children, mainly girls, and this can't be a bad thing.
Check out their facebook page - The English Mermaids For all you Fin-atics Take a picnic and join in the antics in Brighton on the 18th July. This is a fun event for all the family, raising awareness of our ocean conservation, and sea life in general.
