The White Queen - English Vernacular Edition

The ocean will soon be an uninhabitable environment. The plankton, on which all life depends, is dying out. In order for merfolk to survive the devastation, some believe mermaids must mate with human males so that their young ones will have the ability to grow legs.

Morg is born into a sect of merfolk who believes in the notion, but she refuses to be a part of it, hating the mere thought of a land dweller touching her, let alone doing that to her. When her leader forces it upon her, she is helped to escape before the duty is done, and swims to a nearby sect alone. There she learns of the White Queen, a mermaid who can see into the future, and with whom she hopes to find a better solution to their demise, if it will happen at all.
