Magicians once ruled the realms of Evania. They were ruthless and corrupt and always bickering. They have a flaw in that they may not sire magicians, and need non-magicians for this task and as such many rulers kept non-magicians in chains and in darkness for the sole purpose of re-population.

Daykkor is a Natural, born from non-magicians he must remain hidden for fear he will be used in the demise of the realms by the ruthless mage Gallan, who seeks only to rule. For Gallan to succeed he must enlist the aid of an accomplice, and the only magicians with the strength to join his cause are Naturals. But first he must find them.

Daykkor though is of a higher ilk and was born with the spirit of the dragon inside him. He is plagued by nightmares of a past life but fails to realise their meaning until he finds himself face to face with one, the only dragon left from the Great Purge of centuries ago.

War is closing on Elvendor in the south when the Malakai return to claim their lost empire. They need the magic within the Wynnog trees to prolong their otherwise very short lives.
